St. Martins Caves

Today we took a trip out to the village of St. Martins, home of the world's highest tides. It is also home of the world famous sea caves. The caves are actually what drew us to the area.

To actually go and walk into the caves you have to go at low tide. When we went the tide still wasn't at it's lowest point yet but it was low enough! So we walked down to the caves and wandered through them. The caves weren't as big or deep as we had expected but they were still pretty neat to see. The caves were created by the ocean currant and when the tide comes in they are completely covered by water!

We wandered along the rocky beach for a while and Aubrey found a rock that she thought was so beautiful. She was proud of her find!

When we were done with the caves we were hoping to rent some canoes and paddle around on the ocean. Unfortunately they only had (one person) kayaks and you had to book them a day in advance as they take you on a 2-3 hour tour starting with full instruction on how to kayak. That would be really fun to do someday!

So we decided to do a little more exploring of the area and we discovered a beautiful trail that we hiked and then we found this little reservoir where we threw/skipped rocks for a bit. The day kind of reminded me of being in Waterton for some reason...

Aubrey has developed a little crush on Natasha's husband James and clung to him the entire time. What can I say, she's only human!

The village "boasts" of it's twin bridges and light house. I'm not sure what there is to boast about. I guess the bridges are kind of neat.

Now we are all, once again, worn out from a really great day.
