June 25th - Dragon Boat Races

To be honest, I had never even heard of the Dragon boat races until a few years ago and the only reason I did hear about them was because my brother Jess was on a Dragon Boat team for ATB Financial. We were never around for it anyway as we were always off gallivanting for summer sales. This year the kids and I got to go! My mom took Aubrey with her so I only had the two boys for the day. Having only two kids to keep track of is so easy after usually having three.

The event was actually quite spectacular! There was face painting, entertainment (bands, Chinese drummers, dancing... things like that), craft stands, and food stands. They were giving out balloons to the kids as well as these little foam dragons (as pictured above). There was also this amazing kettle corn that I still dream about. So delish! The races themselves were fun to watch. We watched Jess in two different races. In one race his team placed second and in the other they placed first! It was such a fun day. We will definitely be hitting it up again next year!
